Since childhood I love animals. At the age of 12, I wanted to become a zoo director. At the age of 30, I took over the management of Görlitz Zoo and since 2011 I am working as a wildlife photographer and filmmaker.
I am a behavioural biologist and have published more than 90 scientific articles on birds and mammals of Antarctica, Asia and Europe. I am active in conservation projects, f.i. for the Red Panda as a board member of the Red Panda Network.
Since 1975, I’m traveling with the camera in nature. Numerous photos were published in print media and articles in magazines. An illustrated book has been published, chapters in various books and four exhibitions have been presented. In the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, I was a finalist. Since 2009 I have been filming, of course also animals and their habitats. At the beginning I worked for Altayfilm in Lusatia (The film “Wild Germany/Die Lausitz” won the German Nature Film Award in 2013), in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, in the USA, in Russia. Since 2015 I am working as a freelance filmmaker in Asia and Europe.
